The Post plans a bar-b-que sauce cook off championship for June 14th-Flag Day.  Entries will be at $5 per sauce entered, maximum 3 per entrant.  The Post will buy and cook the pork butts--ensure uniform cooking of the meats.  "Samplers" will be sold at $3 and one can buy more sauce samplers over the $3 for 3..... the sauces will be numbered and the judges will decided a Champion and a runner up.  There will be a "Peoples Choice" award... we are thinking of a cash prize as well as a trophy.  See Irene or Becky for details.  After the winners and Peoples Choice are announced---probably after 2 hours of sampling.....the Post will sell plants for $7 with all the trimmings and sides.  The entrants will be required to submit a full quart of sauce to the Post.  The winners will be used for the plates... the others bottles will be available for used for those who did not agree with the judges.  It is suggested each entrant provides 3 quarts.. one held in reserve and other 2 used for the sampler.  The public will be invited..we will also hold our annual flag burning retirment from use serve.  We can get a free"ad" this way by having the papers run a story, attend to photograph the winners, etc.  It will be a good way to promote the Post. 

 

 

A new arrangement has been made with the entertainment for Thursday and Friday nights---voer charge is only $3 on Thrusday and he works for the door.  On Friday, the cover is $5 and again he works for the door.  If the combined door covers from both nights equals $200 we are even.  If they go over  $200, we split the overage with the entertainer 50/50.  We have seen increases in attendances since starting this and everyone seems to have a good time.  Support you Post's efforts by attending.
