Let us remember our comrades who have passed on to Post Everlasting since our last Newsletter....

  • David Gregory "Greg" Pippin, 47, January 7, 2008, Navy Veteran
  • Gustene "Shorty" Thornton, 86, January 18, 2008, Air Corps veteran.
  • Otis Oran Thrift, 78, January 22, 2008, Korean War Veteran.
  • Harry H. Smith, 61, January 29, 2008, Navy Veteran.
  • John Railford(Jr.) Morgan, 73, Navy veteran.  Served in Korean war and Vietnam, a member of Post 181.

Not all these veterans were members of he American legion Post 181.  They are still our comrades and we would do well to remember them.  Five(5) me, all veterans, have passed on to Post Everlasting. God rest their souls.

 

BITS AND PIECES......INFORMATION ABOUT VETERANS ISSUES

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue will sign a proclamation on February 13 at the state capitol to make March 29 Vietnam Veterans Day in Georgia.

 

Lula Sinkfield of Blackshear and Salomon Sinkfield of Folkston announce the retirement of their daughters, SFC Paula Sinkfield Worley, from the US Army with 20 years service. She was a 1982 graduate of Waycross High School.

 

Our Post Service officer, Jim Green has put in his paperwork and will shortly be on a long leave before his final day of active duty in the Navy at King's Bay. Well done, Jim.
